I had always seen overnight oats being posted on Instagram and food blogger's websites but I had never actually tried them until a few days ago. I am totally, completely sold. These delicious, gooey oats are not only extremely convenient but also a healthy breakfast solution! You can change up the flavors and use different spices and fruits to create a whole new breakfast everyday! They are also so inexpensive. All you have to do is buy oats and some type of milk and then the rest is up to you (or your recipe)!
In the next few weeks, I'm sure I will come out with lots of different versions of these overnight oats but this is my first batch! Think of the warm, soft texture that is accompanied by a cinnamon, apple waft when you open the jar... Have you started drooling yet? I certainly have ;)
- 1/2 cup old fashioned oats
- 2 tbsp chia seeds
- 1 tbsp Real Source Vanilla
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tsp maple syrup or honey
- 1 apple
- 1/2 cup dairy milk or milk subsitute
Find an old jam jar, mason jar or Tupperware and layer your oats, chia seeds, Real Source Vanilla, cinnamon, and honey.
Grate half of the apple (I prefer the sweet Gala apples) and layer along with all of the other ingredients.
Chop the rest of the apple into tiny pieces and sprinkle on top. Fill the jar with your milk and seal!
Let rest in the fridge either overnight or for at least 4 hours!
Tip: You can eat it cold in the morning but I prefer to put it in the microwave and warm it up!
